MODERN ARCHITECTURE PORTO

MODERN ARCHITECTURE PORTO

Porto modern architecture1

Porto is an amazing and charming city in the northern region of Portugal that has gathered much-deserved attention as far as architecture is concerned. Hometown of two of the world’s greatest, contemporary, Pritzker-winning architects, Siza Vieira and Souto de Moura, Porto is no stranger to historical buildings, urban landscape, street art, and a number of off-the-beaten-track structures that perfectly showcase the undying relationship between old and new, past and future.

AT A GLANCE

  • Spend your time exploring Porto and getting acquainted with its superb architectural scene

  • An excellent option if you’re traveling with your company and wish to commemorate an anniversary or pursue a team-building experience, as we have a day dedicated to celebrating in any way you intend to, whether it’s in an iconic building or a restaurant by the beach

  • The first time we introduced this journey was at the request of a German architecture studio that wanted to celebrate its 50-year anniversary with a special trip. We put together an itinerary for a group of 90 people with plenty of time for those interested in pursuing one of our four suggested guided tours and exploring more in terms of art, architectural work, gastronomy, wines, history, shopping.

  • The ideal goodbye to a packed journey was a sunset cruise on the Douro river.

One of Eduardo Souto Moura’s most impressive project is in Braga, a city north of Porto (55 km away), the Municipal Stadium of Braga. After a delicious, traditional lunch in Braga, time to visit some interesting works on urban regeneration or one of the most impressive cathedrals in Portugal.

The MIEC Museum – The International Contemporary Sculpture Museum, in Santo Tirso, a small town on the way down from Braga, is also worth a visit, since it was designed by Souto de Moura, as well.
