Sintra, Guincho and Cascais
Sintra is an lovely and romantic small town, surrounded by a green mountain.
From Lisbon, the drive takes around 30 minutes.
Accept our suggestion and visit the Palace of Sintra, Palácio Nacional de Sintra in portuguese.
Is a very interesting palace as it has its origin in the medieval times. Here we can see important testimonies of the Portuguese history and our connections with the Arab World. The shop of the museum is also very interesting with beautiful pieces of silver and jewelry.
A drive through the green mountain is refreshing and shows you beautiful houses from the romantic period. Sintra was very famous between some of the most important European poets from the 18’s and 19’s century.
On the other side of the mountain you have the magnificent Atlantic Ocean and the Western most cape of mainland Europe. Going down the road you get to the fantastic sands of Guincho beach, well known all over the world for its windsurf competitions. We propose a lunch in one of the good restaurants, just over the sea.
On the way back to Lisbon you will have some time to walk in the small town of Cascais, over the sea. Between Cascais and Lisbon you will ride the Marginal, a beautiful road bordering the sea.
